Welcome to the next post in my series "What's Trending with Stay at Home Moms?"
Losing the baby weight. #losingthebabyweight
I'm actually pretty much the worst when it comes to this. If you did lose the weight I hate you. If you haven't lost it then I tell you that I have more to lose.
We moms like to give advice. I say moms in general because I myself am loathe to give advice. When I talk of losing weight some people will tell you "If you breast feed it will melt right off!" That's a lie. Actually, it might not be a lie, if you can somehow stop eating the amount of calories you ate while nine months pregnant that helped you gain 50 lbs. At a low moment soon after Owen's birth I remember debating ordering the Whopper or Double Whopper. I didn't get a double whopper, but it took a lot of self restraint. You're starving! You're exhausted! Burger King is so close! (Don't judge. I live in Exile, Mississippi) Sure there is a Subway, but I'm not hauling my baby out of the car, in my "yoga pants" looking seven months pregnant to get myself a turkey on wheat! I'm sure Owen won't mind holding my drink as I make my way back to the car. I mean, he doesn't have the gross motor skills to suck his thumb, but he'd sure like to hold my drink!
Enough on my tangent.
You'll meet moms who zip up their pre pregnancy jeans as they leave the hospital. Usually they are tall. They also usually don't get post pregnancy hormonal acne. You hate those moms. Sorry if you're one of those moms. Go ahead and deflect my hate with your hot post pregnancy abs. They'll tell you they just ran a triathalon with their baby in a papoose on their back.
Remember when I posted that I would never get gross, sagging, breastfeeding boobs? Well, some sort of sick karma followed me after that post.
Even when you do lose the weight your body just ain't the same. There is just a mess where your stomach used to be. Instead of having roughly the shape of an hourglass you look a little more like Gumby.
We sure do like to talk about how pregnancy wrecked our bodies. Cherish your pre pregnancy body. Hold it close. Take pictures in it.
Still, when it's all said and done, he is totally worth it. After all, he didn't make me eat all those french fries.
